this is what I received from an email that I sent to shapewriter develoers,
Hello,
Thank you for contacting ShapeWriter. The following is an automatically generated email reply containing answers to some frequently asked questions about ShapeWriter on Android.
Your message has been received and will be reviewed by a member of our staff. If your question is not answered below, one of our staff will reply as soon as possible.
1. When will ShapeWriter be released for Android phones such as T-Mobile's G1?
Due to the current Android SDK limitation on input (See 4) and other considerations, we currently do not have a release date for ShapeWriter on Android.
2. Can I register to be a beta tester?
Yes, we are conducting beta testing on the T-Mobile G1 for future versions of ShapeWriter. If you are interested in participating, you can download a beta version from our website. Using your G1's web browser, go to
http://www.shapewriter.com/andbeta.html Please be sure to register with us first by sending your full name and email address to
android@shapewriter.com.
3. How do I use this application?
Instructions are available in the notes that you see the first time that you open the WritingPad section of the application. A short video demonstration is available at
http://www.shapewriter.com/android.html. You can also visit our How-To page at
http://www.shapewriter.com/howto.html .
4. Can I use ShapeWriter as the input method for all my Android applications?
Unfortunately not yet. We built the current ShapeWriter application using the Android SDK ("software development kit"). At this time, the tools do not allow us to build ShapeWriter as an input method that will work in all applications. According to the current Android road map (
http://source.android.com/roadmap), an Input Method Framework
(IMF) will be available in Q1 2009. However note that you can compose text in ShapeWriter and then use the "copy and paste" features in Android to copy the text to any other application. You can also send out your WritingPad notes by email or SMS text messaging.
5. Is ShapeWriter available in other languages besides English?
At this time, only an English version is available. We do plan to support other languages in the future. However we cannot give firm release dates for this yet.
