follow this step Menu > settings >Security & location > Uncheck Wireless networks. now the phone will stop pinging the towers to try and get your location. you only need it if your using gps to find your location. helps a lot with battery. i think this needs to be a sticky.

but unchecking the wireless or gps doesn't turn off ne internet.... it is just if ur using map to find location n stuff!!!  Trust me turning off all the internet saves more than anything!!! n some people also wanted to get rid of it so thts wht u get!!!!  just follow this sturctur n u'll c for 2 days w/o chargin ur G1!!

i can go 2 days without charging my cell already without turning of 3g or data services

also if your not using the browser there is no data flowing unless you are recieving emails only apps that you download that need internet access would cause it to act this way this is the way linux kernel works and yes the google android g1 is a linux os modified by google

I've discovered the screen brightness effects battery life on my G1 much more than on any of my previous phones (incl T-Mobile Wing). Unless I'm outside, I keep the brightness very low and save roughly an additional hour or so of web browsing time @ 3G speeds.

but the only problem is if they creat one of that size then the back cover will have to be changed therefore adding thickness to the phone

download toggle settings from the market and it is easier to switch back n forth between 2g/3g blueooth brightness gps screen timeout wifi and more
