Admin on official Tmobile G1 forum confirmed that google is pushing RC30 to everyone to fix the root access security hole AKA "Jailbreak" mod.

He also stated that RC30 is all inclusive, meaning that all previous RC fixes are included.

No word on other fixes yet, but it's sad to see that google would rather get into patch war with modders than address real G1 issues.

Xela,
I agree with you, hm....    this phone has many bugs, it is good, but many bugs,  like windows vista, the idea is good, because they did a copycat from Apple, but too many bugs.

That is correct. But If you were never the jailbreaking type, this update is for you, for others, probably not the best time to accept an OTA update.

When you force an update, there is a STRONG chance that you wont get any future updates automatically sent to your phone.

It's not 100% sure, but I know a few people who manually did the RC29 and they didnt get the RC30. I speak from knowledge and experience.... NEVER force an update. They go out to your phone when its time. Some get it before others. Forcing any update can only cause a possible headache

Really? If that is true, then you are the first person that I know of that didnt have a issue, but then again I have read and talked to several who have had problems. Is there anyone else that may have some other info that I dont know about?

if you flash back to rc29 you can still get the ota from google thats why you put modified rc30 on because google can still send you the update after you flashed back
