Now, please let me know your "opinion", please don't get mad or upset with this thread, it is just a matter for "opinions" know more what you really think about our G1 and the Apple Iphone. 

is the G1 will be the really Iphone Killa as they have in the OTAS revisions?

What you really think about all of this?   

PS: I'm not sold for the Iphone, I am just writing Facts and the information that I gave you below, was from the updated Iphone 2g, not the 3g.

First of all, don't get me wrong with this thread, I am a G1 fan, but I've been a little bit dissapointed after I've seen what my brother in law can do with his Iphone, it seems that every G1 user is jealous now for what an Iphone can do right now, we know that android applications will get better on 2009 and will come many more, but I think that this phone should not be out with many bugs and many missing applications.

Many people that don't know what G1 will do and see the G1 right now these days will get easly dissapointed comparing to an iphone.

Please tell me more good reasons why you prefer G1 better than Iphone,  today my brother in law came @ home and I was watching everything what he was doing with the Iphone, Iphone doesn't ask anything to The G1.  Even when he has the OLD Iphone, not the 3g / GPS new Iphone.     

Tell me the truth why you prefer better a G1 than an Iphone:

OPen Source?  I've seen many applications in the phone that developers for android are just getting out and it was already in the Iphone or was made for the Iphone too.  Open source so all developers can be free to change it?  I don't know how many developers will be willing to re-invent the wheel when it is already invented, I mean to modify the source to make more changes, I don't know how many will want to do that.

- Iphone is superior in the Graphic User Interface (GUI).
- Iphone Scroll is smoother than G1
- Iphone zoom in and zoom out is way better than G1
- Iphone multi touch is a great idea that G1 maybe will not use for Apple patent.
- Iphone is not restricted where to install the applications.  I know that Iphone does not have Micro Sd card, but how many of you need 16GB or more?  this is not a notebook or a computer, You can delete and upload information if you fill the 8 GB or 16GB.
- Iphone virtual keyboard is the best thing I've seen on this phone.
- Iphone battery life is way better than G1
- Iphone can view view all PDFS received by email, it is awesome how you can look them, more clear than water you can view these files.
- Iphone can view MS documents more clear than water.
- Iphone does not have QWERTY keyboard, but to tell you the truth?  it is really not necessary the Qwerty keyboard is nice, but not necessary.
- Iphone has many free aplications and many Free games.
- Iphone can surf Google.com too.
- Iphone has Youtbe since long time ago.
- Iphone has flash player (sorry with this one, I made the error, but as soon as g1 gets it iphone will get it too).
- When you browse with Iphone a website you really see everything there, not  <X> or missing stuff like G1.

I don't seem any special thing from G1 compared to Iphone to tell you the truth, except the ShopSavy, I believe that for now they have not done the same thing in the Iphone, Am I wrong?

The only advantage that I see from G1 and an Iphone, it's that we are on a T-Mobile Carrier, customer service and rates in my opinion are better in T-Mobile than AT&T and for now G1 that's the nearest approach for an Iphone, but not way superior and least for now and for many months more.

Your support is really needed  PROS/CONS always appreciated.

Sooo you listed all these things about the iPhone being better and stuff but I really don't like them... Some of my friends have the iPhone and when I used to play around with it the wrong letter would get pushed or it would take me somewhere I didn't want to go.. It's better to have a QWERTY keyboard for me(and I'm sure a lot of girls) because of my nails :]... since I really don't know much about PDFS or GUI I'm not going to comment on whats better and blah blah blah I'm just going to say in the future the G1 will dominate the iPhone lol... Also, I'm sure you guys will find a way to download applications and such for free... as for the memory and battery problem... it's not that hard to go out and buy a bigger or longer lasting one... Or maybe they'll fix it with a OTA update? IDK I'm just bainstorming here probably none of this make sense.

Thanks, no one seems interested to give good opinions about the G1, I just want to know why you prefer better the G1 against the Iphone,

for me would be:

- T-Mobile Carrier, better phone plan services than AT&T and this g1 is the most near for an Iphone, but not superior, actually is below than the Iphone right now, just consider when the Iphone was released, how long ago? and when this g1 phone was released? and this phone should have better stuff than Iphone out of the box, not in the long run, that's a shame, but we will have to stick with this now.

for you : the qwerty keyboard, that's nice, I'm not telling that it's not nice this feature, as you wrote, girls prefer that and you are right. , but what about boys? I prefer right now the Virtual Keyboard

Oh okay well I prefer it because it has a keypad... thats probably the only reason... and because it comes from T-mobile so I don't have to switch companies...

and some guys prefer a QWERTY keypad too... I guess it just depends on what you personally like?

Exactly, I got it because this phone is the nearest as the iphone and because I don't have to change companies, I will stick with T-mobile, that's why, you are right and yes, I use the qwerty, but sometimes I don't want to open and close , open and close and so on, that's disturbing !!!

What revision are you using right now?  the 28 ?   I had a MDA   windows mobile 5.0 and I loved it because I used it a lot for my Outlook contacts sync with MDA, later on they made the same phone with difference case in blue  called the Wing,  with windows Mobile 6.1, but I did not want to spend 300 for a phone that is not really better than this.

Honestly I orig. wanted the IPHONE but I use to have Cingular/At & t and their service SUCKS..not to mention thier horrible plans and high prices. I easily could of went to At& t because I didnt have a contract with TM anymore but its just not worth it to me because TM customer service is unbelievable imo.

I am glad to have the G1 because its an open source phone which means there are endless possibilities on the way.

I agree with your thoughts, but you know what?  hopefully open source will make the difference,  my brother in law yesterday show me the market for the iphone, Apple has plenty of software for the iphone, plenty and many software very interesting and some others the same like the android, so Iphone right now have everything what a G1 will want, so I don't see any good point about the Open Source for now, but lets see what happens in the near future, the only thing that Iphone does not have right now it is the     Street views and the BarCode scanner , the rest everything is there.

Okay, for a little bit of background, I had an iPhone 2G with AT&T when it first came out.  I hated AT&T due to the high plan prices and terrible customer service, but also because the iPhone didn't do anything!  You couldn't download anything other than music and such through iTunes, so I unlocked/jailbroke mine.  I think that everyone needs to keep that in mind here.  When the iPhone first came out...it didn't do anything!  I recently moved, and thought to try out AT&T again, so I gave the iPhone 3G a shot.  I really liked the improvements as far as the App Store (it was about damn time!) and the GPS.  I guess I'm just a tad bitter cuz of all the hype the iPhone continues to get.  Its a great device, don't get me wrong, but its not the only device to compare things to people.  Long story short (now that my rant is over, LOL) the reasons I like the *G1 waaaay more than the iPhone (whether your talking about a regular 2G, 3G, or unlocked/jailbroken version) is this:
*Qwerty keypad (even though there's talk of adding an onscreen keypad which I would like as well)
*copy/paste (you don't realize how much you need this until you don't have it....cough...iPhone)
*Pictures (this is phenomenally better than anything I've used in the past)
*FREE apps!!!  (this is a BIG one for me, there aren't very many GOOD free apps in the iPhone App Store IMO)
*Syncing (its sooo easy to put your music and/or pics from ur computer onto ur G1)
*INSTANT MESSAGING (I'm still blown away that the iPhone dropped the ball on this one, and even the clients you can download are crap and don't keep you signed in)

These are all the reasons I prefer my G1 over the iPhone just off the top of my head.  I'm sure as soon as I post this, I'll think of more.  LOL!  And I just want to point out again, that I'm an Apple fangirl.  I own a Macbook, and would never use a Windows device...not ever!  LOL!  And that I've had all the iPhones in all its unlocked/jailbroken glory...and the G1 spanks it....no question.

yes and I am talkinga bout the OTA 29, I still have the 28,  if you have the revision 29 , can you let me know how good or bad it works the PDF and MS Docs that you can send by atachments to your gmail?   please do I really want to know experiences about that,  Iphone do a fantastic job with that to read them, you can see them as clear as water

LOL ooh my god, you're funny, btw  3 girls just here in a thread with me and I'm the only man here, I feel good, I am just kidding, I agree about MACs against PCs,  when you switch to an apple, you don't want to go back or look back again, right?   ok, talking about the   G1 and the Iphone.

Yesterday when my brother in law came here, believe me that he had everything,    he had all the messengers and guess what?  he can see  like a real messenger with all the photos (icons), etc,  it is very neat and real, it is like if you were seeing the real messenger,   I have not seen that yet in the G1,   also

he showed me that if I can read PDF and docs, he showed me his email with his atachments and  I love the Multi Touch that he does with the two fingers to zoom in and zoom out,  G1 does not have that,   What about the scroll ?  up and down with the finger seems a way much smoother even with the Old iphone,   he has the  Shazam too and some greats apps that I did not think that  IPhone had it,  there are many free applications with the Iphone, I saw  everything bunch of applications and many are free too.

I agree about  Tmobile Customer Care people have a great service and T-Mobile plans / services much better than At&t,  At&T very expensive.

Hope they can modify their firmware soon and they can improve the Graphic user interface,  for me is choppy, you can compare both and let me know how choppy is the G1 comparing the Iphone, as I am telling you, I saw the old Iphone , not the new one, so  I believe that out of the box  this android could come much better than the Iphone at least the same.     

oohh BTW,  you can see flash, PDF, docs, etc,   everything is there in the Iphone, you feel that you are surfing in a real very small mini palm book,   with g1? you don't feel that, there are many <x> , because  you don't have  flash enabled and still the browser is choppy choppy

Yep it came with a video recorder, more memory if I'm not mistaken, some graphic changes and bigger sized files to send in picture messages and tmail... The recorder sucked because it was really choppy and picture quality was not good... I'm sorry I cant help with the attachments because I never used that feature?
