If the car stereo will not play some of the songs, try converting your format before giving money to apple.
I also washed my ipod, so I called and complained that the battery was not holding a charge, and was sent a new ipod free of charge.
Did you have to send your old one back? If not I might have to do that. I hate how Ipod reorganizes my files after I loaded them though.
They sent me a package with a new ipod, a box, and a (prepaid) shipping label. They stated that if they could prove water damage my credit card would be charged for the replacement, but it was an idle threat. With so many ipods being returned due to bad batteries (part of their business model), I do not think they even check. (In reality they have probably figured out a sample size of ipods that must be checked to ensure a reasonable detection rate).
