Whatsup everyone!

My name is Edgar currently 17 yrs old for another 19 Days, Drives a 2001 Celica GT attends DeVry University and works @ UPS. (me in a nutshell) LOL

I have seen a couple friends with g1's and wow does it look impressive.  Smiley
One of my ex's is selling her White G1 for 150$ and i am really tempted to jump on it.
Thank god i stayed "friends" with her  Tongue lol

either way i have been reading around the forums and am amazed how much one can do with the g1.

One things that has me a little skeptical is the fact that i am currently a T-mobile customer and have been for YEARS.

I am on a Family Plan with a total of four phones  and our plan consist of:
1800 Whenever Min ($89.99)
Unlim Weekend/Nights
UNlim T-Mo-T-mo
UNlim Text ($19.99)
Additional Line/s($9.99)

If i buy the phone and i place my existing SIM card in will i be able to use the phone? as i read a Data PLAN is required to even use the phone.

and how much would it cost me to add a data plan? My mother pays for the phone she might consider it if its relatively cheap.

Thanks for the help guys/gals.
Looks like an incredible forum with incredibly helpful people.  Wink

Welcome to the forum.......I'm sure you got future plans in life but working at UPS at such a young age is excellent....I know several people who work there and lets just say they put in their time and now they drive and making great $$$$...

Yes you will need a data plan for the G1 and it is $25 per month. without this you might as well not get the G1 lol

Yes dedication will get you far in any job.

i spoke to a driver who started doing the same thing i am doing now and he is 22 now and get paid 36$ an hour  Shocked

I think for a 22 year old that's amazing! He gets Tuition benefits (which i am taking advantage of) and full health care benefits (which i get in a couple more months), its a good paying job.

Darn I am going to contact t-mobile today i guess to see how much it will cost me. Because i know i am not going to like the reaction of my mom paying an extra 24$ a month.

My contract does end in September i will try to make it clear that sprint gave us an incredible deal and we are interested in them if i don't find a better deal. Maybe that will work? lol

If not i will probably buy the phone and end up posting it up on eBay  Sad Sad Sad
Which i hope doesn't happen as i really would not like to part with that phone

Hey Edgar, welcome to the Forums! I did exactly that, told them (T-mobile) I was real impressed with what sprint was offering me= a great deal on data+unlimted service AND was going to give me 2-4-1 on new data phones, and could I please know exactly when my contract was up?!! You would not believe how good of a deal we got! Better even than brand new customers- we ended up paying less NOW than we did on our bill BEFORE we got the G1's! Go for it! Remember, don't really ASK, let them offer! Or "I may be persuaded to stay, depending on what you can offer". Good Luck!

I agree. It's all about having a good talk game. Companies sure talk your head off trying to sell their products so you gotta do the same thing. If they really want your business they should be able to work a nice deal with you.

I have decided to buy the g1 either way. Worse comes to worse i will sell it =(

I have a friend who bought a g1 and has been using it for awhile without a data plan he says it sucks as he can't do much without wifi or a data plan but he is able to text and call and has been able for a while.

why is it some people can and some others just say it wont even work?
