Where Can I Find The Ringtones On My Phone?

I want to increase the volume of my ringtone, so I thought I'd copy it to my PC and use Audacity to make the sound file "fuller" (and louder, naturally). 

But I can't find the folder that contains the ringtones. 

Where are they?

/system/media/audio/ringtones

This is in the system folder though, and may require remounting system as read/write, which requires root.
