Weird gmail Forwading address issues

Hello all.  I am seeing something a little off with Gmail on my G1 and wondered if anyone has seen this problem and might have any ideas how to correct it.  I have a shared gmail account with my family where I conduct 90% of my email correspondence.  I also have a personal account which is what my G1 is tied to.  I have set my shared account to forward messages to my personal account and have set my personal account to show the address to which the message was originally sent as the reply address.  This works perfectly on the computer.  On my phone though, the forwarded messages come through to my personal account fine, but then when I send replies, the sender of the reply is my personal account instead of my shared account.  Any thoughts as to how I can fix this?  Unfortunately, gmail also doesn't allow POP downloads from other gmail accounts or that, with a setting to leave messages on the server, would probably solve my problem.
