to sound totally honest,
I'm not really computer literite. How can I take a DVD put it in my computer and rip it to my SD card 4 MB and be able to play it on my G1? I don't have a ripping software on my computer, are there good ones out there? for free? broke as f*ck right now. Any help would be greatfully appreciated.

4MB? I dont think a movie will be able to hold if you on have a 4mb sd card. U mean 4gig sd card? and you need to convert the movie to .3gp format and download video player off the market

And make sure your battery is fully charged before watching a dvd movie on the g1. Otherwise, you might have one heck of an "intermission"  Wink

The movie can be converted to other formats other then 3gp. I convert mine to MPG and they play fine on my G1. You could also do FLV

I use Any DVD with Nero Smiley

Break copy protection and intentional breakups in the data. Works great with any DVD Ripping / Copying Software. Best $50 i ever spent Smiley

I thought FLV wasn't supported yet? Anyways, you are right with the AnyDVD, that is a great program, I have the Slysoft AIO and it works wonders.

Anyways, dranged, honestly the best way to do this would be to use something like AnyDVD to crack the protection (not that I condone that *cough cough*) then use Nero or something  similar to burn the image. I would then go further and use a video editor to convert the DVD files into the mp4 format.

I used Gogo DVD to convert a film to 3gp and put it on my G1 - the lag is beyond belief, something like 5 or 6 seconds.  Totally unwatchable.
