I have over 5000 text messages on my phone, and everytime I try to delete a big thread, my phone freezes. Does anyone know what could be causing this and how I might be able to fix it?

I used to have that problem with RC30 and below.  It would lock up my phone for a minute to delete about 200-300 messages.  Since I updated my phone to 1.43h, it doesn't lock up anymore and let me do other tasks.  So for 5000 messages....man, that'd take a day or two to delete! Tongue j/k...I dunno how long but the phone takes quite a long time to delete messages.  Just wait out I guess.

I've got this one thread that has 1809 messages in it, and no matter what I do, my phone freezes everytime I try to delete it, sometimes making me re enter my sim pin. Any Ideas? I'm dying here lol.

If it gives you a force close message, keep hitting wait and well...wait it out.  If only there's a way we can access the sms storage folder and delete messages through a computer.

Did it work, D-Mac?  Before I moved my apps and cache folders to SD, my phone would get really sluggish when I have about 300 messages saved.  Now I can go up to like a thousand to notice the slow down.  I use SMS Backup so there's no need to save hundreds of messages on the phone so I usually delete them when they get to a bout 300-400.

I used to delete them frequently, but I just got lazy. I still haven't been able to get rid of that one thread, and I really don't know what to do. It kinda sucks.
