Email notifications (Not Gmail account)

I'm asking this question for a friend of mine because I don't have multiple email accounts set up on my G1. I searched and didn't see anything or maybe I overlooked.

She wants to know how does she get her G1 to show when a new email comes in that is not on gmail?

I'm sure there is a setting somewhere but I have no idea bc i only use gmail

in the email app they need to go to settings and set the notification just like on the gmail app
