G1 apps... Charging Developers

Quoted straight from the Android Marketplace's Blog post:

"Starting in early Q1, developers will also be able to distribute paid apps in addition to free apps. Developers will get 70% of the revenue from each purchase; the remaining amount goes to carriers and billing settlement fees—Google does not take a percentage. We believe this revenue model creates a fair and positive experience for users, developers, and carriers."

The 30% does go to billing and such. I'm sure most of it is to support the networking aspect as well. But, Google, at least officially speaking, does not profit from app sales in the Android Marketplace.

did you read it right the developer of the app gets 70% and google gets 30% for getting it out to the masses i say in business thats a pretty good split

I agree. In fact, when you think about how many people use google services all over the world, that's a very sweet deal.
