All I have to say is that who ever the developers are, you have screwed me to the extreme. Here is what happened. My g1 hasn't been syncing at all so when I fix all my contacts on my g1 I couldn't back it up at all. I've tried every way imaginable to back up my contacts. There was no way of me backing up my g1 contacts either thru connecting to outlook or moving my contacts to sim. So I started uninstalling apps since I couldn't install them on the sd card.

After a few big apps were uninstalled my g1 started syncing again. This was one of the happiest moment I got since I spent 2 days fixing all my contacts. So I kept uninstalling apps that I didn't need. I came to the myfaves app and it didn't let me uninstall but I was able to clear data and so I did. I continued to uninstall a few more. I then saw that my sync icon was gone so I went to check on my contacts. To my surprise all my contacts were gone. I thought I had something unchecked but there still were no contacts. My friend said maybe it was the myfaves so he tested it out and sure enough all his contacts was deleted.

And where am I at now. Pissed off and really sad. Over 500 contacts and emails gone just like that. Why? Because I was never informed about what happened if my myfaves data was cleared. I don't remember seeing that in thew manual and I really hope its not in there because I would be truely pissed at myself and a little less pissed at the developers. When did myfaves became related to my contacts data. I thought myfaves were tmos 5 friend faves. Is it not?

All I know is that I'm am about ready to send this damn phone back and get my damn money back. I love this phone to death but it annoys the shit out of me because more than half of what happens on this phone isn't even informed by the manual or by google people themselves and losing invaluable information like this shouldn't be something taken lightly.

sdsviet,
I am really sorry to read this and thanks for sharing your bad experience, so people will learn from your Trials & Errors, It has happened to me several times too and I always love to share this kind of information, so people learn from my mistakes and with that we help us each other.

I have a suggestion for you,  try to do always a backup from your contacts, how ? export your contacts to a  text file or a file format that could be compatible with Gmail, so later on you could  import it again or load it again, that's the only way to protect our data I believe so, I don't remember that I've seen so far a backup software when we really want to do something to our phone,  later on we will get this kind of software.

Anyway, again sorry to read this, and you learned a very good lesson with this.

Well what there talking about is to not not clear you my fav info on the phone when you go to the apps management if don't clear the data from it you will be fine and also make sure you have syncronazation checked for your contacts so ther backed up with google then you will never lose them.

Dont feel bad. This is a learning experience for all of us right now. And the best (even if the most painful) way to lear is by trial and error.
