I am planning to buy a micro SD card tomorrow.  I would like to know what is the max memory that can be installed in the G1?  8GB or 16GB?

Can the micro SD HC cards be supported by the G1 or just the older micro SD cards?

Any cards that are recommended?

The Dude,
16 GB is out for now,  when it comes 32GB you can use it too.

on regards the brandname  KIngston is a good brandname, but Sandisk is the most commercial right now and it's ok.

So if I get a 16GB memory card it can installed in the G1 not like other phones which have a hardware liminitation as to the max memory card size supported.

May be it may be okay to just get 8GB since for now we can't install any applications in the memory card.  This is a huge disappoitment.

Anyway, do you know if the micro SDHC cards are supported or not?  If yes then what class (4 or 6)?

The dude,
I am not sure about it, but this is the right kind of memory that you need.

Ok cool then the micro SDHC will work.   I asked because inthe market you can get some older stock which are slower are ordinary micro sd.  SDHC are faster.  However there are 2 classes (2, 4 and 6 availalbe ).  The link which you posted shows that the card is class 2, which is the slowest micro SDHC card now.

How about class 4 or class 6?

How to be sure that 16GB memory card will be no problem?

The reason is that I am going to the store today to buy a micro sd card and was wondering if I should ge thte micro sdhc card instead.  May be class 4 or 6 which will be faster for data transfer.

The main thing is that I wanted to be sure that 16gb was supported by the G1.  I don't want to waste money getting it and then later finding out that it is not supported.

Check this out.

A guys is getting crashes playing video with a 16GB sd card.  He is wondering if it is a problem that he is using a slower class2 card and that the class 4 card would be better.

What do you think?  We should try to find some more info.

Well I got the Kingston 8GB micro SDHC card (Class 4).  I bought it for US $22.50

I couldn't find a 8GB micro SDHC card (class 6).

I saw a 16GB micro SDHC card (Class2) but then that one is slow and is found to have problems when watching movies.
