Im thinking of getting one of these on a Tmobile Flext 35 contract. Unlimimited (i think that means 3gb fair use) 3g access.

Im pretty clued up on tech. But im completely new to all this phone apps and 3g 24/7 stuff.

I really cannot afford to go over the contract at all. And ive heard a lot about these apps making you spend money unintentionally without you even knowing untill a thousand pound bill comes at the end of the month....

Please can you tell me a few things...

How much support does this phone get?
Is it simply a fad or..does it actually have a long life?
How is the 3g?
Does it have Wifi (for free, completely seperate to the 3g access etc)
What should i do to make sure i dont pay for what i dont want to?

Thankyou in advance

plenty enough for you to enjoy your phone and become comfortable (outside and inside)
as many people that have this phone in the world,as many developers there is for this phone, as many forum members talking about the G1, the updates that come out for the G1. look to me as a long life device
3G is quite fast, but so is normal EGPRS
yes we have Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi is completely different from 3G on the phone
Probably turn off 3G, don't download data apps that you know you wont use, and keep track on my.t-mobile.com

Thankyou very much, great help!

On the tmobile website, it says this:

You'll need internet coverage, check it at t-mobile.co.uk/streetcheck. Remember that you can only use web'n'walk in the UK and you can't use your phone as a modem or use web'n'walk for peer to peer file sharing, instant messaging (except if you have a Sidekick) or making internet phone calls.

What's a "sidekick"?

It is a tmobile phone with a large screen, and slide out keyboard. Great for teenagers who like to text a lot, but not for much else.
