I was wondering if anybody knew how much the voice plan cost for the G1. Also I tried to buy the phone for this presale event thing going on for existing T-mobile customers. I had saw on the G1 website that it starts at $179.99 with the two-year agreement, but when I try to buy it online its starting price is $299 so I am confused on the pricing.

if u go to t-mobile and go to get it first. that is the preordering process. it will only be $179.99 then the unlimited web and texting is $35 or unlimited web with 400 messages is $25. the activation cost is $18 but it is all worth it. because when it does come out and u have not preordered it, it will be about $399.00. so go on there now to get it before it is to late.

Kdog,
You are right about almost everything, but I don't agree for the $399 if you do not order it now, can you imagine Apple for $ 200.00?  and this phone for $399.00?  it does not make sense at all!

I believe that Google's strategy is to sell it for $ 20 less than the New basic Iphone, so google on this way will earn more market and with the Open Source will make Iphone bite the dust !

Kdog he's right the G1 phone will cost $399 if you purchase directly from the store. I was at one of tmobile's store today and ask that question. So it has been confirmed.

the voice plan should be the same as the original plans they should not change.

Guys,
Don't get me wrong, Kdog should be right and Busaboy too, so I am not saying that you are wrong, what I want to say is "does not make sense" if Iphone they are selling their phones for $ $ 199 the basic one of 8GB and 3G, why in the world google will sell it for $ 399?   without any plan maybe, but with plan and 2 year agreement I don't think that they will exceed the $ 199, if not too many users will go for an iphone instead of a g1.  I don't know, that's my point of view, maybe I am wrong.

And that's because they want to sell as many pre orders as they can, after that, it does not make sense that the phone will be for $ 399.00  , one thing that I know is that AT&T their phone plans and extremely bad  minutes / price, tmobile gives you more minutes for the price.

Well the plan is correct. On top of whatever rate plan you select, you will have to pay the $25 dollars for unlimited internet with 400 messages, or $35 dollars for unlimited data and messaging. *sigh... I'l mis the 19.99 price for the data plan for my sk badly... will have to choose less minutes.)

At the NY conference, it was stated that you cannot purchase just a data plan without voice for this phone.

Now the retail price of the phone is $399. But if you are a current t-mobile customer eligable for a partial upgrade, then you will get $100 dollars instantly discountaed for you. If you are eligable for a full upgrade then the price is $179. Any customer will be paying the full retail price for the phone's replacement, or if you are starting up service and qualify for a non-contract account.

Yes it's half of your rent but if it's something you'll really appreciate and make good use out of then I believe it's worth it.

MoonWell11,
Interesting, but I really want to see how much it will be for new customers, I was lucky to be a Tmobile customer for some years and I could take the advantage of the $ 179.00   Lucky Me !
and yes, I left my phone plan as it was , just I had to add the $ 25,   I don't use too much messages, I prefer Internet (data).

Right exactly. The only people who will be paying full retail price for the g1 are new customers who do not want to start a plan with a contract and choose to go month to month, or existing customers who have upgraded pretty recently (and are no longer eligable for an upgrade) and now want to get this phone.
I only had a partial upgrade but to be honest with you I would've paid full retail if I had to, lol.

Not really its $399 if you jus buy the phone and $299 if your allowed a upgrade plus $18 for upgrading fees plus another $26.23 or $26.50 jus to be safe for taxes coming out to be a lil under $350 or to be exact $344.50

but for those people that are allowed a full upgrade for only $179 plus wat i said
