vythai,
Good question, I am not sure about it, because since I got the full upgrade for $ 179.99 with two years agreement your obligation is to keep two years with the data plan at least, I don't know late what can happen.

Now in your scenario, what are you doing?  Two years commitment? Partial Upgrade?  No upgrade and full retail price?    everything depends where you are standing on it.

new customer.

If you get it with two year agreement, you will have to stick with the data plan too for the same time.   2 years.

Rayosx this will clear everything up for you ok?

AT&T sells the iphone 3g (basic) for $200 with a two year agreement, without that to buy that phone without the two year agreement i head its somewhere along the lines of $500 to buy it without a contract. i don't know any specifics as to what discount you might have if your already a customer and you haven't finished your full 2 year contract previous to trying to get an iphone

T-mobile sells the G1 for $179 with a two year contract, $299 partial discount for customers that already have t-mobile but havent finished their current contract, and $399 for a retail, no contract ,no upgrade fee, just if joeblow wants to walk up there and buy the phone outright.

now compared to iphone being $500 retail and the G1 being $400 retail no matter what the G1 is cheaper. and remember that with iphone its a 100 dollars more to get the upgraded 16 gb where with the G1 it comes with a 1gb but if you ever wanted to upgrade to 16gb micro sd it would only cost you like $75 additional (from e-bay) and you can buy that later on unlike the iphone which you have to decide then and there and once your stuck thats it

LatinSilEighty,
thanks, That's will clear up to other people here, they are asking the same again and again, the good thing about it is that you can switch SD Memories and Iphone can't do that, also you have a removable battery in case that you need some extras you can replace one with other. Iphone can't do that too.

Hey guys, I have a question. My brother bought the phone today at $179 with a one year contract. After playing  around with the phone he said he will to get me one too this weekend. Do you guys know much it will cost now that he is a T-mobile customer?  Does the price increase once you're a T-mobile customer.  Before buying the G1 he was a Helio customer.
