Phone doesn't make sound when i receive a text

when people call me it plays my ringtone but it doesn;t make a sound when i get a text. idk why. i have been looking through the settings and everything seems to be right

check under  setting - sound & display - notification ringtone - try to pick the loud one lol

Can't the phone vibrate as well when it receives a text or call?

mine is doing the same thing. it plays the notification ringtone if i get an email or voicemail but nothing when i get a text. I hope somebody has figured this out.

You have to go right into your messaging and press menu and then click on settings. Select ringtone should be on the list, click on it and check your setting there. It may have "unset" itself during an update on accident or something... but try all avenues

Mine is working fine and I just configured   Text , Email and Ringtones   with   Rings Extended
it works like a charm !
