Hardware issue - triangle with exclamation point

Uh, oh...

After charging my brand new G1 it doesn't want to power on.  Prior to recharging I let the battery run down. The screen just displays a white triangle with a yellow exclamation point in the middle and a G1 laying in front of the triangle.   Nothing happens when I press the End or Menu keys.  I couldn't find any reference to this error in the phone's reference/setup guide.  Help!

did you pull the battery then try to restart the phone

I realise this topic is a couple months old, just found this site. Just saying that I had exactly the same error, wouldn't power down or restart.

Pulling the battery and re-starting solved it though.

On Sunday evening around 7pm I dropped my phone In water. I immediately removed the battery and put a hair dryer to it. An hour later, I put the battery back in and it turned on.  I used it all night and all day Monday, but around 8pm the battery died. When I got home to charge the battery it wouldn’t turn back on. The G1 screen comes up on initial startup, but the next screen is a triangle with an exclamation in the middle, with a g1 phone beside it. I’m Wondering if you have the knowledge to repair this problem. I figure its nothing major, because it worked all night and day and only gave me problems after the battery died, but I could be wrong
