I believe the openness of the Android OS will allow the functionally of the G1 to surpass anything that the iPhone could ever do. The G1 is the perfect phone for "tech geeks" like myself that love to tinker, modify, and personalize every electronic device they own.

Isaac65,
that's great to hear, will you help us to do great stuff here with tip / advises ? Smiley,  I will be a newbie and I am not that kind of expert like you are with phones.

Kdog,
the same reason for the OPen Source many people from Europe will create awesome apps, I don't know your age, but did you heard about the Commodore?  they did awesome stuff for those computers and most of them were from Europe.

I preffer the g1 to be honest with you. Prior to my finding out about the g1 I was going to buy the iphone and unlock it for useage on tmo network. (I was tired of not being able to watch videos or view PDF documents on my sklx) But then the g1 came out with an open android platform and a qwerty keyboard.... sold! I just can't text using touch screen phones. I have nails!!! lol. The only concern I have is about the restrictions that should be put on the apps from developers so that our phones don't receive buggy apps that crash the phone. Don't know if there are security measures at all but I sure hope so. Other than that, I will sooo enjoy the open market. Wink

MoonWell11,
the bad thing is that open does not mean free, I thought that when it will be open it will be free, then I researched and hm... they can charge or they can do it for free, hopefully it will be many free applications Smiley
