Go in to terminal emulator and TYPE SU THEN HIT ENTER THEN TYPE REBOOT THEN ENTER AGAIN .. IF IT REBOOTS ITS ALL GOOD... AFTER YOU TYPE SU WAIT A SOCOND AND SU REQUEST SHOULD POP UP. HIT ALWAYS ALLOW THEN TYPE REBOOT..

Ok here's my deal.  Rescently rooted and gained multitouch and a bunch of other goodies that came with jf1.51crb43.  When I check my build number and it still says crb43 as it did before root. The kernel info is differnt tho . It contains a bunch of numbers and whatnot as well as the words jesusfreke.  I assume this means my root was done correctly.  However I downloaded a wifi tether app and before I installed the update for it it had a tab open that said that my phone was not rooted.  After the update installed the tab disappeared and the app appeared to be functioning correctly. Also attempted to use overclockwidget. Which gave me an error message "overclockwidget failed to lauch".  After having both of these strange instances I am beginning to question whether my phone is rooted or not.

I went into terminal emulator and typed su and hit enter.  The window popped up and asked for me to allow or not, I allow.  Then typed reboot and hit enter. Phone reboots and I'm hoping I have root.

I guess my question is , if rooted is my actual build number supposed to change or the kernel info?

And if my phone reboots in terminal emulator when I type the command is that a definitive answer to tell me if I am rooted or not?

Thanks to whom ever has the answers.
