I went and talked with the computer techs at my school today about an ext2 partition on Vista. The main concensus was to use Unix, but there was a suggestion to try partition magic. Let me know if this works.

For some reason Partition Magic wouldn't recognize my SD as a drive.  It wouldn't show up.  I had to jump over to Ubuntu to format the partition.

its been a while, so i'm not 100% sure, but couldn't non Linux users just download Knoppix? it will boot off the CD giving a Linux environment, without having to fully install it. Once all is done, you reboot, and VOILA, back to Windows.

to test the theory, i'm going to just donwload it myself and try, and i can let you know (if the download ever finishes, i'm not at work, and damned if i'll pay for internet so i just use my work phone as a teather lol)

Now that you mention it, you can do the same thing with Ubuntu.

I can confirm that booting Vista with  the Ubuntu CD will allow you put an EXT2 partition on your SD. Best of all, it is free.
