I'm not an idiot, I know how to clear market cache. That isn't what I'm talking about.

In RC33 you could only clear browser cache, which would do nothing for market cache. Now w/ cupcake, you can clear market cache from settings--> manage apps. This is all well and good, but it doesnt solve the problem.

Do a little experiment. Look at your available phone memory and write down the amount of free mb's.Take your G1 and go onto the market and look at applications non-stop for 1 hour. After doing so, write down the amount of free mb's. Now, go into manage apps and clear your market cache. It doesn't clear the memory you used browsing the market.
because you need to reboot to reclaim and if thats not doing the trick for you then i would call tmobile and replace the device i have never had this issue

I'm not trying to be an @$$ about this, but google the matter for 5 minutes or so and you'll see several people that have noticed this issue.

neither am i but i dont need to google a problem that doesnt exist for me. there are a lot of people that have several problems with there device and its either a defective device problem or user error. you asked for an answer here and you were given the answer. so now that its answered this discussion is finished about the market issue. and if it carries on i will lock this thread and any others it appears in we need to keep this thread on topic.

                         thanks the g1-forum staff

Thanks man. Just a point of info that I want to add. I originally had winrar and I tried to install about 3 times, before I thought to try deleting this prog and reinstalling. I worked!  Grin Now I could also say that I named the file "update.zip" which became update.zip.zip and maybe THAT was the problem.
Nonetheless, I have the update. Thanks bro.
